Hi, I’m Popessa. Food lover, fusion cook, and your culinary storyteller.

My journey into cooking started from a simple desire: I always wanted to eat something different. Whether it was recreating dishes I tried during travels, experimenting with spices from different cultures, or spoiling friends and family with something unexpected. I discovered that food was my way of expressing creativity and care.

My cooking style is fusion at heart. I love to play with spices, switch things up, and find flavourful alternatives, though when it comes to Nigerian soups, I like to keep things deeply authentic. There’s just something magical about the variety of soups across Nigeria. Each region has its own spin, different spices, vegetables, names, and even preparation styles. As someone who loves their “swallow,” I find endless joy in exploring and recreating them.

I started this website as a space to express my love for food—not just through recipes, but through stories. Every dish has a memory, a mood, a meaning. As someone who also enjoys writing, this platform is where both my words and Flavors meet. It’s also a place to connect all my other platforms and showcase the services I offer beyond the plate.

A little more about me? I’m an introvert at home (give me a snack, a good series, and I’m content), but I’m also a traveller at heart. I love discovering new places, new tastes, and yes—new spice Shops or markets. I’m obsessed with coffee shops, perfumes, and beautiful pots (seriously, if you’re ever unsure of what gifts to get me, just buy a beautiful pot!😂)

The name Popessa was given to me by a Reverend Father I jokingly nicknamed “Don Corleone” after The Godfather. He called me Popessa in return, and it just stuck. It’s now a name and a brand I carry with pride.
